My favorite unconventional art materials these days are Q-tips and stickers. Easy to use, easy to toss. While BB and Mister were resting in the afternoon, PK and I did pointillism art using Q-tips and acrylic paint.
I let the girl choose six colors that she wanted to use and poured them onto a disposable tray (that was meant to be in the recycling bin). You can use a plastic egg carton or your paint palette if you don't have any of these trays around. I save up these trays when I get them in my jelly packaging. A good reuse of these plastics.
So this project is really easy. You just use the Q-tips and make dots on your painting. As I was doing the art alongside with her, I told her to "dot-draw" the picture she wants before "dotting" the background. This is a little challenging because she is so used to draw lines for her painting. But I think she did a great job anyway!
And this is mine.
If you read up on pointillism, you will probably find a few artist that you know of used pointillism in their works.
A while ago in March, we also did a dots paper collage for St Patrick's Day. We made the paper dots using hole puncher.
And this is just a happy morning picture we had at the playground today. Lovely Sunday, everyone!
