Who am I?
My name is Huaysin and I was a high school teacher in Singapore before I decided to leave my job and become a stay-at-home-mom. I live with my husband and two kids (PK & BB) in San Jose, California. I taught for four years before we moved to Chicago, Illinois, where I enjoyed my new adventure as a stay-at-home-mom with PK. The two years in Chicago gave me a lot of opportunities to meet new friends and broaden my perspectives on parenting. PK and I were engaged in many fun-filled activities that enabled both of us to grow intellectually and emotionally.
When we moved to San Jose, four moms and I decided to set up a playgroup (we called it APG) for our kids to meet regularly for structured playdates. It has been more than a year and we are still going strong with our weekly lessons for the kids. Through APG, I have learned many parenting skills from the moms and also gathered a lot of awesome ideas for learning and playing.
My stint in the teaching profession has always influenced me to incorporate learning, playing and crafting in my everyday interactions with the kids. Some of my friends encourage me to share play and craft ideas that I was doing at home with them online so that they can do similar activities with their little ones. Thus, I started this site to document all the activities that we are doing together and share them with you so that together, we can improve and make childhood memorable for the little ones.
Who is PK?
PK is short for Pink Kitty and is the nickname of my little princess. She is the big sister and the chatterbox in the house. Her favorite toy is this pink kitty blankie (and Elsa doll) which she played with every day. PK is an observant little girl. She pays attention to the slightest details and thinks a lot before she executes a task. That also means she is always asking for choices and changes her mind all the time.
Who is BB?
BB is short for Brown Bear and is the nickname of my little guy. He is the little brother and the adventurer in the house. He got this brown bear blankie during our baby shower from a family friend and I love it that all it says is "PLAY". Yes, that's what little ones should do all day! BB is sensitive and a little snuggle-bug. His smile is always charming and his giggles are contagious.
