It has been a week, without Daddy, in the rainy hot SG. I'm hoping I get to update the blog every week, but no promises we will find time to do it. We are like tourists in our own country. It's kind of fun too. My friend asked, "Are you going to go out every day? Are there so many things to do?" Well, I'm optimistic that there are! And I hope this will help some SG readers find out more about fun stuffs to explore in SG, the kiddy-kind of fun, PKBB style.
Day 9 & 10 were spent on the plane. The time difference between SG and US causes us to "lose" a day on the plane.
We had a midnight flight, which was nice for PK because she slept through the first half of the first leg, waking up to breakfast. And, we were lucky enough to have three seats to ourselves, gaining PK a space to lie down to sleep across two seats. On the other hand, BB only wants to nurse or sleep on me or be carried around on the plane. Thanks to this, I was able to escape deep vein thrombosis. I gained little rest/sleep but luckily it was manageable.
Day 11
After some sleep but awake since 3am SG time, we headed out to get some fresh air.
1st stop: Bugis+
This mall has butterfly wings on all sorts of Christmas related things like elves, Santa, angels, Christmas trees. Very simple decorations but attractive enough to mesmerize PK & BB.
2nd stop: National Library
We were heading to Bras Basah Complex when we got attracted to this Christmas tree made of books. Unique and cute.
Day 12: Central @ Clarke Quay
On route to Grandparents' house, we passed by this shopping mall, which has themed their Christmas decorations around balloons. From giantantic balloons to hot air balloons, it was a hit with the kids.
Day 13: Duck Tour
This day, I decided to play tourist and aboard the famous amphibious duck tour. While waiting to get on board, there is no kid that bubbles and balloons can't entertain.
While the splash from land into the river was exciting for kids and adults alike, I have to say that the splash is the only highlight of the tour. The boat was too noisy with a very loud engine, so loud that it covered up BB's screaming and hence, caused little (I hope!) disturbance to the others on board. It was also very stuffy on the boat with no fan. Why? SG is a very hot place, isn't it obvious to have some extra ventilation to make the tour more bearable?
Nevertheless, we had a great time as a family.
Day 14: Sentosa
After an exorbitant breakfast at Vivo City's Food Republic, we headed out to this island playground. The line to board the express train was really long but surprising quick. We reached the island in less than 30 minutes.
1st stop: Merlion
It was surprisingly easy to introduce our iconic Merlion to PK with her already understanding what a mermaid is. This Merlion on Sentosa island is one of the five we have in SG and the biggest of all.
While we didn't go to the top of the structure, we were happy to just explore the mosaic water structure at the foot of Merlion. We were disappointed that entering the water pools was not allowed but I let the kids dip their feet in the water to cool off the heat. And just splashing in the water made PK & BB so happy.
There were a few inflatables scattered around from the Imbiah station to the Beach Station. I did not find it especially attractive but to kids, yes, they love it. This was at the Candyland outside iFLY studio. We were going to explore the Toylandon the beach but it started to rain so we stopped by iFLY to watch people fly and "redecorate" their Christmas tree.
Day 15: Water Play and Playgrounds
Dressed in swimwear, the kids were ready to get all wet playing with water at Tampines One. But unfortunately, Monday is the day when maintenance tend to occur. Luckily, the one at I12 was not closed. So PK and E had fun getting themselves all drenched. BB, on the other hand, was hungry and sleepy and did not enjoy the water spray at all.
Today was also the day the kids played at 5 different (dry) playgrounds. Guess I got to appreciate that we get to enjoy many play structures in our neighborhood without driving.
More fun await for us in the upcoming week. Stay tuned!
