I have been wanting to buy or home-make polymer clay for PK for a long time. Finally, today, I couldn't resist the temptation and got a pack of oven-bake modelling clay. I admit I was attracted to the vibrant pastel-like colors of this pack. And I like it that it needs to be oven-baked to harden which means the kids and I can take forever to sculpt with this clay. It says never dry out!
She was excited to put it in the oven but she is too short to do it safely. So I have to take over after taking this picture.
Only the rose was done entirely by me. I did it while waiting for her rainbow flower which was done entirely by her. She was particular about the colors and meticulous with the placement of the clay on top of each other. Rolling a long clay and/or a ball were easy for her. But I have to do the many hearts she requested for!
The hardened pieces turned out to be such great toys!
We made this pair of elephants while waiting for the first batch of sculptures to bake. Love it! She made hers for BB because that's his favorite animal now. And I made mine for her.
It was a good bedtime activity to do together while BB was sleeping. I have read about air-dry clay and home-made versions but for now I think this works and I'm pleased with the results. Home-making art supplies is just too much work for me now.
