Recently, PK started her own journal. I have been wanting to do this with her for a long time but I was too preoccupied and she didn't show as much interest in reading & writing as now. So I guess this is the right time to get her to write more.
We started with using stickers to create a picture and then write a story about it. It can be hard on her to wrote long sentences so I wrote the story for her as she narrated it to me.
In no time, PK was ready to create her own picture and write her own story. She did Chapter 6 and 7 all by herself!
This is her cover page.
And her title page.
When I explained to her the structure of a book, I used "The Foot Book", which happened to be so readily available that day. Thus, she named her book, "The Love Book".
That day, we were reading a book and she said she wanted to draw a picture of it. So she took out her journal and started writing. She has been starting her story with "this is..." And this time she wrote the story before drawing. So I prompted her to draw what her words say.
This book review activity is fun and her drawing, although copied, looks original. I love the way she concentrate on her tasks.
