Our dear APG teacher S introduced us to this awesome suncatcher craft this week. Using contact paper and a heart outline, the kids can decorate the suncatcher in any way they like. The pink one we did at the class was decorated with all colors of tissue papers. PK cut some scraps into tiny hearts and used them on the suncatcher. We brought home two extra blank templates and I got PKBB to decorate the suncatchers with flowers.
PK and her friend V have been picking flowers everytime they go on a walk. So instead of tossing the flowers, we used them in our craft.
Even BB is working hard on his design!
We hung it up on our love tree and the kids love it.
To do this craft, you need a rectangle piece of contact paper. Cut an outline of a heart using construction paper or scrapbook paper. The heart should fit no more than half of the rectangle. Let the kids stick anything they like inside the heart. Once they are done, stick the other half of contact paper over the heart outline. Press to seal and remove any air bubble. Cut the heart, remembering to leave a border of contact paper around the outline so that the suncatcher does not open. The end result looks a little like a laminated artwork. Punch a hole and string it to hang it by the window or anywhere you like. Enjoy!
