Ok, I wasn't planning to bore you with all the details of the first few days of school. But with the first day being only an hour long (very much a teacher-parent conference to me rather than school), I feel like I need to write a little note about the second day of school, which is technically the first day that she is staying in school by herself for four hours, including a lunch and recess.
So, she was supposed to wear the same blouse and skirt to school today as she did yesterday. That's what we agreed on, last night. After all, that set of clothing was pretty clean. But this morning, she woke up and asked for a dress. Well, I can totally see it coming because when we were in school yesterday, she was already scanning the clothes of every single girl around her and figuring out what kind of fashion she can pull off with her uniform. Yes, dress is the hot favorite. And of course, she needs to wear leggings with it. I got to admit, she looks really cute in this uniform.
Arrived at school, she was no shy baby. Chit-chatting non-stop with her new friends about the earthquake kit they prepared yesterday. Lined up and off she went into the classroom without even saying goodbye. A girl behind her was in tears. And the boy in my arms was also in tears.
So it turns out, the big girl is SO ready for school; the little boy is NOT ready to let his sister go; the mommy just want to go home.
Our morning turns out to be rather productive. With a letter A for Apples craft and handprint apple tree, we breezed through morning and headed to our library story time.
This is the school lunch today. She ate only the cheese and fruits. *sigh* I just had to make her finished those smoked salmon heart sandwiches at home.
The outfit she don today is way too warm, for a hot summer afternoon. I saw her playing at the playground in those layers, oh man. Tomorrow, she is going back to a top and bottom, no dress OR leggings.
We came home and did a little project with the Sharpie pens we bought yesterday. It was fun drawing on aluminum foil for her. After the boy took a nap, we spent some quiet time reading and more Sharpie art on glass. It was a fun afternoon. Looking forward to a better school day tomorrow.
