We had a more authentic pumpkin patch outing today since the pumpkin patch in the city was more of a carnival.
We arrived at a small farm and saw colorful scarecrows everywhere. This is one beautiful shot at the entrance.
I love my kids.
And one with white pumpkins. I have never eaten a white pumpkin before, but someone told me the flesh of it is light yellowish. Guess they use this to make ghost-jack-o-lanterns?
Smiley princess just like the scarecrow.
There are many sunflowers by the fence of the farm and some were taller than me. Beautiful scenery.
There isn't a corn maze at the farm, but there is a lot of hay stacks and the girls had fun climbing onto the different structures.
Princesses :)
PK explored a hay tunnel by herself and I was wondering why she was taking so long in the small tunnel. Then I realized there were holes between the hay stacks that let light in. So, it wasn't too dark inside, and yes, she posed for pictures when I went in with BB.
Hay is a new thing for BB and he was very busy exploring it. I left him barefooted again today.
I kind of like this small farm being cozy and contained. I can spot my kids from anywhere on the farm. Although the kids can probably play all day here, we decided to head out to another farm for a more adventurous outing.
So we reached the second farm at lunch time. BB took a nap while the girls and mommies had lunch.
We went on a hay ride around the farm and passed a big plantation of sunflowers. This farm is definitely bigger and even more spacious for the kids to run around. I like it that the pumpkins are sorted according to their varieties, thus, having several different patches to play on.
PK found this variety of pumpkin which she called it the pink pumpkin. It's kind of obvious she loves this, very much.
And there are white pumpkins which is a favorite for PK too. These are heavy and my little girl is obviously very strong! Oh yes, she found a hay stalk, sturdy and long enough for her to call her princess wand.
Then she saw these long variety, probably a type of squash? Anyway, she play on them like they were logs. Stepping up and jumping off.
The good space at this farm allows for a hay maze, surrounded by their train tracks. The girls went a few rounds in it, and had so much fun chasing each other. Definitely safer than corn mazes and easier to spot the kids in this hay maze.
It's interesting to observe what is fun for the kids. They were at this wooden wheel structure and spent a whole half an hour or more at this, stuffing hay into the wheel. Not sure whether the owner likes this, but the kids had fun.
It was an overcast day to be out, not too sunny, not too chilly. Just the right kind of weather to be outdoors. Might be better without the rain, but nothing dampens the kids' adventurous nature to play and have fun.
Have you explored a pumpkin patch yet? How does one in your area looks like?
