We had a letter A play date at our home today. It was planned for the boy so the activities were more tuned towards toddlers.
As you know, toddlers are not known to sit still, so I prepared a few activities for them to do at their own pace.
We have play dough and animal cookie cutters and animal picks for the sensory playdough center. A is for animals.
We had a creativity center where I prepared some dry erase pens and templates for the kids. A is for apple pie on my plate.
Three crafts at the craft table today: A is for apples, half-eaten apples and autumn leaves.
If you still remember the tape resist fall leaves we did last week, the craft was really easy. Today, we used dot-a-dot markers, so it's even more mess-free.
We read a couple of books. One of them talks about autumn - Barnyard Babies. Another is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. This is where we did a little activity on our magnetic easel and the kids put stickers on their paper.
We also read a funny story about ants - It's an Orange Ardvark.
We played a lot and learn a lot today. But the most happy thing that happened to me was that the boy stood in front of his peers and sang the alphabet song. He may not sang clearly and it's sometimes out of tune, but that courage to stand in front of an audience is admirable. I was totally surprised that he wanted to do it. By the way, he volunteered himself after another friend who was already 4years old sang for the class.

I guess, my boy is ready for some serious learning and social interaction of his own when his sister is in school.
